What Happens When a Trial Ends or a Payment Fails
schedule.construction never deletes your schedules because of billing. When a company isn't paid up it becomes read-only: everyone can still see and export everything, but nobody can edit.
When it happens
- Trial ended without a subscription. Read-only as soon as the 14 days are up.
- Renewal payment failed. Full access continues for a 7-day grace period, then read-only.
- Subscription canceled. Read-only at the end of the last paid period.
What still works in read-only mode
- Opening and viewing every schedule
- All exports and prints: Excel, P6 XER, MS Project XML, CSV, PDF
- Existing share links for owners and subcontractors
- Billing, so an Owner can restore access
- Revoking API tokens and changing your password
The banner at the top of the app says "Your company is read-only. Viewing and exporting remain available." Owners see a Restore billing button. Everyone else sees "Ask an owner to restore billing."
Emails Owners receive
Near the end of a trial:
- When three days or fewer are left: "Your schedule.construction trial ends on (date)."
- After it ends: "Your schedule.construction trial has ended."
After a failed payment:
- Right away: "Action required: payment failed"
- Day 5: "Reminder: payment overdue"
- Day 7: the company is now read-only
- Day 12: final notice before cancellation
Each email has a button that takes you straight to billing. If the card isn't fixed, the subscription is canceled after roughly two weeks of retries.
Restore editing
An Owner clicks Restore billing, or opens Plans & billing on the home page, then:
- Trial ended or canceled: choose seats and click Subscribe.
- Payment failed: click Manage billing and update the card.
Editing comes back as soon as the payment goes through. See Subscribe, change seats, and manage billing.
